Draught free Stable (2015-2017)

At the beginning of 2015 we started a research project for a draught free stable. We do this in cooperation with 6 other companies in our sector, Wageningen University and VIC Sterksel. The motive to start this research was a discussion during a meeting at VIC Sterksel. The use of antibiotics in pig husbandry is still very high and an important cause of this is draught. The purpose of the cooperation is to design a system in which the cellar, the pens and the climate are so matched together, that a high quality production proces can be quaranteed for the farmer and in which the performances and health of the pigs are constantly on a high level. By combining the knowledge and expertise of the different companies and by connecting all the parts as seamless as possible, we can create an environment for the animals that's as optimal as possible. During this project we take a farrowing pen with a delivery pen as a starting point. But the concept will be developed in a way that the basics can later also be applied in pens for fatteners, piglets and pregnant sows.
During the first half of 2016 we build the first prototype in our warehouse and during the second half of 2016 it was build in, in the stable at VIC Sterksel. Here it has been tested and now it will be developed further.
